MCP 004 - The Muse, Part 1 of 2

Will Kerenson is a fairly normal college student … well, okay, actually, he’s an aspiring writer, but we all have our odd points. Trouble is, he’s feeling fairly uninspired — until one day, when he encounters a strange young woman who will change his life forever. Join us for part one of this two-part story!
This episode features Beq Vyper as the voice of Callie. She’s a gaming buddy of mine, and I was very glad when she agreed to play this role for me. Thanks, Becky!

Feedback:
Chris discusses feedback on Episode 2, particularly the universal love for Leann Mabry and Kaa’s comments on the radical notion of vampires as people. David Beard showed up to give his stamp of approval for the use of his music, which was very cool. Finally, special thanks go to Michael Spence of Brother Osric’s Scriptorium for sending us our first voice mail! If you’d like to hear your voice on the show, send us some feedback at (206) 350-7333.
Next time on the Metamor City Podcast:
As Trajan hunts for Callie and the icon, Will tries to help keep her out of harm’s way by sheltering her at his apartment. But is there any safe place to hide when a rogue mage is on the loose? Tune in next time for the conclusion of “The Muse” — and until then, keep it on the bright side!

Another winner. I like having distinct voices for each character and not the usual single voice actor trying to do 20 voices (Jim Dale being a notable exception). Of course, I might change my mind when we have a story with more than a few voices, but for now I’m going to say I like it.
Also, I continue to enjoy the ambient sound effects. It lends a certain…dimensionality to the story. A “thereness,” if you will.
Waiting for part 2.
Thanks Kaa! I’m glad you enjoyed this one as it was fun to do. I hope you will enjoy the by play between Bilbo and I since we were able to do our lines together.
I think the background effects adds a lot to the stories. Theatre of the mind is great but the added effects just make it better. It was one of the things I enjoyed as a kid listening to CBS Radio Mystery Theatre and I think Chris is handling it very nicely.
You continue to impress me Chris - Have you thought about getting all this made for a television series?
All my very best wishes -
David.
It’s a good thought–but I’d think doing this on television would be far and away too expensive. Certainly something as comparatively mundane as “Bionic Woman” costs big bucks; by contrast, these first few MetCity episodes have involved little money (albeit lots of labor and love), and yet they’ve sounded well-nigh seamless.
Besides, why confine the image to the dimensions of a TV screen?
