Author’s Note:
Some listeners may recognize that Artax bears a remarkable resemblance to a certain other Old Man – namely, the wizard who runs the magic shop in the Spells ‘R’ Us shared story universe, created by Bill Hart. This resemblance is, of course, completely intentional. I conceived of Artax as an homage to Bill’s original vision for the Old Man, before some subsequent writers turned him into a cruel and sadistic monster hell-bent on destroying as many lives as possible. In any case, only the greatest respect is intended to Bill and his creations; he gets all the credit for creating such a fun and engaging character, and if Artax deviates in any way from how Bill would have wanted his character portrayed, the responsibility is mine alone.
Next time on the Metamor City Podcast:
Students are dying at St. Theresa’s, a school and halfway house for wayward girls on the Street of Metamor City. Abbey Preston is visiting the school, seeking relief from the terrifying visions that have been plaguing her. Is something supernatural at work, or is it all in Abbey’s head?

Hey Chris,
Just wanted to say that after listening to all the Metamor City podcasts that you have put out so far, you are doing a fantastic job! It’s great to see that you are bringing in voice talent so early in the game. It really adds a lot to the overall quality of the podcast. I found you through the 7th Son podcast novel and will continue to listen. Thanks for all your hard work.
Nathan
Another good one, Chris. I especially liked the way this one ended, with the…”joke” by Artax finding payoff.
But maybe Artax did Will a favor. What writer hasn’t wanted to know what really goes on in the head of the opposite gender? I’m sure it’ll make Will a better characterizer of female roles.
I enjoyed the voices, and you did a magnificent job of blending and mixing. As usual, the background noises and special effects (like the echo in the warehouse) really added to the dimensionality of the story and gave it a realism that draws the listener into the story in a different way than just listening to someone read the story.
I also really liked that you didn’t “go there” with Callie and Will, which you could so easily have done. Beautiful, sexy woman invites geeky introvert to shower with her…and he says “no.” That is a plot twist.
I eagerly await MCP 006 and up.
