The Metamor City Podcast introduces its first fan-created story! John and Lissa are an aging married couple from a rural part of the Empire, and both of them are plagued by chronic diseases that make sexual intimacy difficult. Every year, on their anniversary, they come to Metamor City to take advantage of the (relatively) inexpensive magic that is readily available here – magic that, for one night, will give them relief from their symptoms and allow them to enjoy each other’s bodies. This year, however, they just might be getting more than they bargained for…
Metamor City Anniversary is an explicitly erotic story and is not suitable for children. Listener discretion is advised.

This is so cool I just had to share it. Nobilis of Nobilis Erotica has released the first Metamor City fanfic, a story called “Anniversary”. It’s appearing in Nobilis Erotica #44.
Fair warning: as his podcast’s name suggests, this is erotica. It’s a sexually explicit story and not appropriate for children. But what Nobilis has done here isn’t just sex for the sake of sex. This is a story that clearly has personal meaning for Nobilis, and it shows through in the quality of the characterization.
“Anniversary” is about an aging married couple who love each other very much, but don’t often get the chance to express their love sexually because they both suffer from chronic illnesses that make sex difficult or impossible. Once a year, on their anniversary, they travel from their rural home to Metamor City, where the magic that can give them a night’s relief is comparatively cheap and accessible. They’d never be able to afford the city’s high cost of living full time, and the trip itself is expensive, so they’re stuck with this once-a-year experience when they can really express their love the way they want to.
It’s a beautiful story, full of genuine, tender emotions, and Nobilis has caught the flavor of Metamor City perfectly. If you’re not bothered by sexually-explicit fiction, I definitely recommend it.

Author’s Note:
Some listeners may recognize that Artax bears a remarkable resemblance to a certain other Old Man – namely, the wizard who runs the magic shop in the Spells ‘R’ Us shared story universe, created by Bill Hart. This resemblance is, of course, completely intentional. I conceived of Artax as an homage to Bill’s original vision for the Old Man, before some subsequent writers turned him into a cruel and sadistic monster hell-bent on destroying as many lives as possible. In any case, only the greatest respect is intended to Bill and his creations; he gets all the credit for creating such a fun and engaging character, and if Artax deviates in any way from how Bill would have wanted his character portrayed, the responsibility is mine alone.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is Blaine Terynson, Imperial Minister of Information, here to provide a report on our continuing efforts to disseminate positive information about our beloved Majestrix and the Imperial Union of Metamor and Allied Nations.
Several Imperial citizens must be recognized for their recent efforts in transmitting our message of hope and freedom. All of these individuals shall be awarded the Order of the Empire of Metamor (OEM) in honor of their good deeds.
The Ministry also wishes to extend its thanks to the following individuals; though not yet citizens of the Empire, they have shown themselves to be friends of our great nation by promoting its virtues far and wide. The Majestrix has ordered that each of these worthies be bestowed with the Honorary Order of the Companions of Metamor.
The Ministry encourages all citizens and friends of the Empire to inform us of any further efforts to disseminate positive information about our nation and its beloved capital city. Those who serve the Empire in this way shall be honored in future dispatches.
All Hail the Majestrix! All Hail Metamor!
The Hon. Blaine Terynson,
Imperial Minister of Information

Will Kerenson is a fairly normal college student … well, okay, actually, he’s an aspiring writer, but we all have our odd points. Trouble is, he’s feeling fairly uninspired — until one day, when he encounters a strange young woman who will change his life forever. Join us for part one of this two-part story!
This episode features Beq Vyper as the voice of Callie. She’s a gaming buddy of mine, and I was very glad when she agreed to play this role for me. Thanks, Becky!

Feedback:
Chris discusses feedback on Episode 2, particularly the universal love for Leann Mabry and Kaa’s comments on the radical notion of vampires as people. David Beard showed up to give his stamp of approval for the use of his music, which was very cool. Finally, special thanks go to Michael Spence of Brother Osric’s Scriptorium for sending us our first voice mail! If you’d like to hear your voice on the show, send us some feedback at (206) 350-7333.
Next time on the Metamor City Podcast:

Dan Shaurette, the creator of the Is This Thing On? blog and podcast, gave The Metamor City Podcast a very favorable review in Episode #36, his Halloween episode. The discussion of Metamor City starts at 45:39, if you just want to check out that part, or you can start at the beginning of the episode and listen to him and his co-host Michelle rant about 30 Days of Night, rave about Buffy Between the Lines, and discuss lots of other cool stuff.
Thanks for the good press, Dan! I hope you continue to enjoy Metamor City as the story progresses…
